Halloween recipes are a very exciting aspect to this particular holiday. There are many different types of cookie cutters available that represent common schemes and themes of this particular holiday. You can purchase cutters that are shaped like bats, ghosts, pumpkins, monsters, and more!

All you need for this particular recipe is about two cups of butter, three eggs, two cups of sugar, five cups of flour, one teaspoon of vanilla, and approximately three to four tablespoons of milk. Simply mix all of your ingredients together and then roll out the mixture – much like you would for biscuits. Next, take your cookie cutter and break the shapes. Then, use food coloring to enhance the appearance of the cookies and bake on 350F for approximately ten to fifteen minutes!

The next spectacular haunted Halloween recipe that I am sure that you will love and your guests will find appealing is witches brew. This is sure to be an interesting centerpiece for any type of Halloween party! First, you will need to gather some basic supplies. These are a pack of raspberries, two cups of cranberry juice, approximately two liters of ginger ale, some unflavored gelatin, and gummy candy that reflects the Halloween theme – like worms or snakes.

Spiders are great if you can find them in gummy style! Combine the raspberries and the cranberry juice in a rubber glove and freeze it. Then, take the leftover raspberries and put them in the base of a bowl, and top with the gelatin. Next, all you have to do is add the frozen “hand” you created earlier and pour in the ginger ale. Once this is done, add your scary gummy creatures and you are all set! As you can see, there are many fun and scary Halloween recipes available!

Halloween is a great time to host a kid’s party. After all, what child doesn’t like Halloween? One of the most enjoyable aspects of Halloween is the food. There are hundreds of recipes that have been specifically created for this spooky holiday. The following ideas will help you plan the yummiest menu possible.

Serve a minimum of sweet treats. You don’t want your guests suffering from ’sugar overload’ during the party. To celebrate the occasion, serve chicken fingers with a blood (any red dipping sauce.) If you prepare them from scratch, it’s not hard to make them resembling the more human variety. Add a sliced almond for the finger nail for a realistic approach.

Another dish to try is to add equal parts red, blue, and yellow food color to spaghetti after it’s been cooked so it turns an ugly brownish color. Serve with a green pesto sauce and call it snakes in the swamp.

Make goofy eyeball meatballs. Shape seasoned ground meat into an oval with a flat top and bottom, bake until done. Cut a round circle out of mozzarella cheese about the size of a half dollar or one inch in diameter. Cut grape tomatoes or cherry tomatoes into three slices. Cut black olives in half. Assemble the goofy eyeballs by placing a slice of cheese on the meatball, then a slice of tomato on the cheese and top with a black olive half. Vary the placement of the toppings so the eyeballs are looking in different directions.

If you will be serving punch, why not serve the ghoulish variety? Simply make your favorite punch and add a few ghoul hands. To make these hands, fill non-powdered rubber gloves with cranberry or other red juice. (Don’t overfill, the fingers of the glove should still move easily.)
Close gloves tightly with rubber bands and freeze flat on cookie sheets, which have been lined with paper towels. When ready to serve, open gloves with scissors and add to punch. You may want to break off one or two fingers and add them separately.

A fun punch can be with one quart of lime drink, one quart of lemon lime soda and one cup of lime sherbet. The sherbet should be added right before serving. Stir so the sherbet foams up a bit with the soda. Dust the foam lightly with cocoa powder to resemble dirt.

It’s not a good idea to use dry ice in your punch to make it smoke. Curious hands may try to touch the dry ice resulting in freezer burn. Instead place the dry ice in containers out of reach, such as the back of a table and you’ll still have the atmosphere of the smoky fog without the worry of accidents.

Keep the food simple and familiar but with a twist. Rename favorites in the Halloween theme. Use food coloring in blues, greens, and browns to alter the way a dish looks. Or use familiar food in unfamiliar ways. For example blanch a cauliflower head, break apart and then reassemble (this makes the cauliflower easier to serve) cover the cauliflower with ranch dressing then using ketchup in a squeeze bottle outline each floret with the ketchup so it looks like a brain.

All over the Tampa Bay area spooky events will begin showing up around the first of October and they promise to have you screaming for more! There will be many haunted houses and freaky attractions guaranteed to bring in the crowds. Some of the popular haunted Halloween events are fun for the whole family, while some are better suited just for adults.

• Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay has featured it’s Howl-O-Scream for the last few years. It last for 16 nights and tickets are sold separately. Runs Thursday through Sunday beginning on October 5 and consists of six haunted houses, five scary zones, and two twisted shows. You can even ride the roller coasters in the dark which makes them even scarier. Younger children are probably better left at home with the babysitter, there’s a lot of screaming and scary costumes around every corner.

• Ybor City in Tampa, FL on Saturday, October 28 will host its famous Guavaween Festival. Guavaween has a separate day and night event. During the day, kids can enjoy the Children’s Costume Parade and Contest. In the evening, there’s live music and local artists and the festive “Mama Guava Stumble Parade”. You guessed it, daytime appeals to the kids and the whole family, while the nighttime “Mardi Gras” version appeals to mature adults. Last year the daytime version drew in some 20,000 people but when the sun went down and the party changed to load music, there were approximately 80,000 people lurking around in some really wild costumes. It’s all free.

• In Largo’s Heritage Village you will find The Haunted Village. Heritage Village is Pinellas County’s 21 acre living history museum. Put on by three local Rotary Clubs, this not-too-scary family “trick or treating” adventure will be open for three nights, October 29, 30, and 31. Admission is $5.00.

• Don’t miss Lowry Park’s Zoo Boo, held in Tampa on the weekends starting at the end of September, weather permitting. Lowry Park Zoo will transform at night into a special event for the whole family with haunted houses and trails, game zones, and a spooky horse-drawn carriage ride. They are adding some new features this year for kids “Frankenstein’s Foam Party” and “Unearthed: Secrets of a Museum”. There is an additional charge for this event.
